Check under your bed, open up your junk drawer and peek in all those other secret hiding places where you keep all your random stuff. What's in there? Chances are you have an old cell phone lying around somewhere. What are you supposed to do with old cell phones anyway?
In honor of Earth Day, we thought we'd let you about some simple, easy (and green) ways to dispose of those old Sidekicks, Blackberrys and Razors.
Ways to Recycle Your Old Phone:
- Cell Phones for Soldiers accepts phones with or without the battery and supplies them to U.S. troops stationed around the world.
- Charitable Recycling refurbishes donated cell phones and provides them to people in need worldwide.
- American Cell Phone Drive helps you find and choose a charity within your community to benefit from your cell phone donation. The phones are refurbished and distributed or recycled for cash that the organization then gives to the charity of your choice.
- Recycling for Charities is another way to help the charity of your choice. In addition to cell phones, they accept old PDA’s and iPods.
- Cell for Cash gives you cash for your old phones. They have a list of all the makes and models they accept if you want to make some money from your old phones.
Whichever option you choose, you'll be helping the planet by not tossing those old phones. You'll also have a few less things in your junk drawer.
